By car, you can travel from Liverpool in approximately 40 minutes, by train 50 minutes – where you stop at Southport and spend the day by the coast. There is nothing better to blow the cobwebs away than a stroll down Southport Pier – the oldest iron pier and second longest in the UK! When you get to the end the view opens up to an expansive coastline boasting magnificent views. A very different day out to a day city sight seeing and something worth adding to you itinerary when staying in Liverpool. But that is not all! Also at the end of the Pier is the recently refurbished Pier Pavillion – if you have not yet visited the pavillion then it is a 'must do' on your next visit to Southport. Full of nostalgic charm, the pavillion has a vintage arcade with old penny slot machines – step back in time and have a go! From day to night, the Pier Pavillion is a great place to stop for a spot of lunch, a coffee with a friend or a refreshing glass of wine in those hot summer months. And what a view! Almost a 360 view of the amaxing coast! And if the walk to the end is too much then the Pier Pit Stop at the half way point has a range of ice cream, hot donuts and a licensed bar! Southport Pier Pavillion is open throughout the day to visitors and their new license allow them to host events, such as weddings, music and comedy events.
